Weekly Coach Update
Hello parents and swimmers,
The Gator coaching staff would like to continue recognizing the steady progress we are seeing across the team. The work you are putting in—both physically and mentally—is translating into stronger practices, improved consistency, and a better overall understanding of how to move through the water with purpose.
Last week, Gators focused on building intensity, developing power, managing distance, and strengthening grit. As we move into Week 5, we are now entering our second week of drill integration within our training cycle.
This means we are no longer just learning drills—we are actively combining the drills we have already worked on with new ones, using them as tools to reinforce technique while maintaining effort and speed. The expectation is not just to perform the drill, but to understand how it connects to your full stroke and apply it immediately.
Gators will:
• Combine previously learned drills with new technical work
• Apply technique while maintaining strong intervals
• Continue increasing yardage with control and purpose
• Strengthen their ability to push through fatigue without stopping
The coaching staff is seeing more athletes increase their capacity to handle longer distances while holding faster intervals. This is a direct result of your effort and your willingness to stay engaged through challenging sets.
As we continue forward, we must remember that one of the most important skills in swimming is learning how to respond when things become difficult. There will be moments in practice where your body wants to stop—whether at the wall or during a set. This is where real growth happens.
Choosing to continue instead of giving in to fatigue is what builds true endurance, confidence, and mental toughness. Every time you push through, you are teaching yourself that even when the path is challenging, you are capable of finding a way forward.
We also want to remind everyone that our first swim meet against Treeview is approaching. This will be an opportunity for Gators to apply everything we have been working on in a competitive setting. Preparation, focus, and team support will be key as we represent the Warm Springs Gators.
As we continue building the habits that define this team, our focus remains the same: improving our times, working toward breaking team records, and supporting one another to create a strong and unified team identity.
Small improvements—done consistently—will continue to elevate our performance.
Keep up the hard work, Gators.
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
Gators will apply their skills.
Gators will maintain their intensity.
Gators will push through fatigue.
Gators will compete as one team.
Go Gators!
