Coach Ian's Gator Weekly
Hello Parents and Swimmers,
As we enter Week 10 of training, the Gators coaching staff is excited to continue watching your individual competitive progress along with the growth of our relay teams as a whole. Throughout the season, we have been emphasizing development in three key areas.
First, goal setting — creating an environment where athletes learn to view challenging work as part of the process of growth and performance development. Second, maintaining high standards in sprint work, turns, and underwater performance, all of which will be closely evaluated by officials during championship season. Lastly, we continue encouraging consistent practice attendance because being immersed in swim culture, training, and a positive team environment is one of the biggest contributors to improvement over the course of a season.
At our last swim meet against Treeview Swim Club, we showed measurable progress and demonstrated impressive energy, focus, and team spirit. The coaching staff would love to see that momentum continue throughout this week’s practices and into our upcoming meet against Chabot.
Please continue filling out your Goal Books. Goal Books help athletes reflect on their performances, stay accountable to their personal goals, track improvement throughout the season, and develop confidence through intentional preparation and self-evaluation.
We would also like to thank all of the families and swimmers who participated in Picture Day. We appreciate everyone’s support and involvement in helping build our team community. We also hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend and had a relaxing day off on Monday, May 25.
