    Coach Ian's Gator Weekly

Hello Parents and Swimmers, As we enter Week 11 of training, the Gators coaching staff would like to recognize our athletes who have continued to steadily drop time, show consistent Gator pride, attend practice regularly, and grow as teammates. We would like to thank all of our swimmers who come to practice with the intent of setting new standards for themselves and helping create an environment where challenges are welcomed and valued. These athletes are the foundation of our continued improvement.

Keep up the hard work, and continue being a respectful and supportive teammate.

As our standards for the Gators continue to shift toward stronger competitive execution, greater confidence in race environments, and—most importantly—representing oneself and the team with pride, we remain focused on a simple truth: we may not be the best yet, but we are committed to working toward that every day. "Discipline is choosing what you want most over what you want now." Abraham Lincoln

          Recent Meet Reflection

On Saturday, May 30, we competed at a home meet against Chabot College. Our athletes continue to show meaningful progress in both performance and confidence. On average, swimmers are racing faster, handling meet pressure better, and demonstrating stronger execution of race strategy. More importantly, they are beginning to carry themselves with greater belief in what they are capable of achieving.

In competitive environments, there will always be distractions. As a program, our focus remains on what we can control: preparation, effort, and how we choose to represent ourselves in every moment of competition.

Performance speaks for itself. Confidence is built through preparation, not comparison. When athletes commit to that standard, they do not need to rely on anything outside of their own lane to define success.

What stood out most at this meet was how our athletes responded under pressure. Even in moments where emotions ran high, they remained composed, respectful, and focused on their own races and teammates. One moment that reflected this clearly was an athlete immediately acknowledging competitors after a race with a handshake—an example of leadership, respect, and maturity without needing to be prompted.

We also saw continued improvement in relay execution, individual goal achievement, and a noticeable reduction in disqualifications. These gains reflect consistent attention to detail and commitment in practice.

     Goal Setting, Tracking, and Accountability

I hope everyone has had a chance to print and organize their swimmer binders and has been consistently filling out the required pages. As we transition into morning practice, all athletes are expected to come prepared with their binders.

We will also begin weekly checks and accountability testing on performance times and goal tracking sheets.

The purpose of this system is not just paperwork—it is development. Our tracking includes:

    ●Daily performance logs

    ●Goal setting and review

●Swim and race evaluations after each meet

    ●Weekly EBSL tracking sheets

    These tools are designed to:

    ●Improve consistency

    ●Build confidence

    ●Track measurable progress

●Develop self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses

●Strengthen mental skills and race preparation

    ●Build accountability and lasting habits

Athletes who commit to this process are the ones who improve the fastest—not because they are perfect, but because they are consistent and intentional about growth.

    Thank You, Gators Families

The Warm Springs Gators coaching staff would like to sincerely thank all families who help bring race day to life—the parents who support, volunteer, and keep our athletes fueled and encouraged. Your involvement is a key part of our team culture. We are building a community centered on small, consistent improvements that shape long-term success.
